| Description: | GreatNonprofits is a new nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote greater nonprofit excellence through feedback and transparency, to help inspire and inform prospective donors and volunteers, and to enable U.S. nonprofit organizations, regardless of their marketing ability or budget, to get their message out to the public. GreatNonprofits has recently launched a Web site and syndicated database that enables people who have had direct experience with a nonprofit to share their opinions about nonprofits. It is the first and largest source of stakeholder reviews about nonprofits which are freely available online. Reviews are posted by nonprofits' clients, volunteers, donors, partners, professionals in the field, or general members of the public. After a pilot testing phase in Pittsburg and San Francisco, GreatNonprofits is expanding the service to a national level by providing their nonprofit reviews functionality to the Web sites of GuideStar, Network for Good, Hands On Network, and others. |
